This text is a mission "SPOILER" to those of you who want to try to fly the pure 
mission without any guidance other than that contained in the flight orders. 

DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS LINE UNLESS YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS 
WITH THE MISSION or IF YOU NEED TO BUY A CLUE.

The mission will take about 47 minutes to fly allowing for your wingman to land 
on the carrier followed by Hornet 1 (you) landing. This is a mission in leadership, 
navigation, and making decisions more than a "shoot'em up". This mission can 
be won on the first try, you just have to have a good plan to accomplish it. The 
weapon loading of choice (at least for me) for Hornet 1 is (2)AIM-
9+(2)AMRAAM+(4)HARM+(1)CL TANK. Your wingman are more loaded down 
with MK-84 (GBU-10), four missiles, and three tanks. Fuel is a premimum on this 
mission. Keeping your wingman close is another concern as you will be flying 
below 1,000 ft AGL most of the mission. Too low and you will run them into the 
terrain, too high and the SAM site will lock on and they will become "duck bait". 
Here are some mission hints to get you through the mission in one piece.

1.) After takeoff level at 1,000 feet and 87-88% power. This will give your 
wingman altitude to maneuver when you form up and also enough speed to fly 
their loading. It will also get you to WP1 about a minute (or 1-360 degree turn) 
early. During the turn power up 90%. Complete the turn and head for WP2.

2.) 90% power is a good setting to the target. If you are picked up by a radar site, 
power to 95 % and try to outrun the missile doing "gentle" anti missile maneuvers 
and popping chaff and flares. Then go back to 90% power.

3.) Watch your waypoints, when things get hectic.....you may forget to cycle to 
the next WP, and by the way....they will get hectic! You can't afford to get lost!

4.) When you release your wingman (F3) just after WP4 continue to fly about 
2000-3000 ft over the river and power to 95%. Take out the facility AAA but since 
the gunboat is a non-player (not critical) to the attack force, ignore it.

5.) Lots of things will be happening on you way to WP7, remember to rejoin the 
flight, "tight" formation. Watch you WP distance. Take out the enemy early.

6.) Recheck your wingman....during this part of the mission, they have a mind of 
their own. Bring them back into formation when possible. You can't linger now as 
the SU-27's have been scrambled. Use 95% power to clear the coast. The F-14 
CAP should handle the interceptors provided you didn't linger in the target area 
or on the way out.

7.) When you go visual on the carrier, release your wingman to "Go Home" (F4) 
You should BINGO while in orbit over the carrier waiting for your wingman to 
land.
